Yorkshire Silent Film Festival is going north - and everyone is invited!

This October, Yorkshire Silent Film Festival becomes Northern Silent Film Festival - a month long, open-access, region-wide celebration of live-scored film. If you or your organisation are based in the North and you’d like to present a live-scored film event, we’d love to hear from you.

All kinds of organisation and venue are welcome, from community film groups to cinemas, theatres and music venues, churches, schools, village halls etc.

The choice of film is yours: slapstick comedy or drama, archive film, experimental film, animation, documentary etc. We can help you find something and advise when necessary, but we’re equally happy to leave you to do your own thing, in your own way.

We can help you with music if that’s useful, and we will run some online music workshops and provide various helpful resources. If you need us to supply musicians, or advise on choice of players, we can do that - and we encourage everyone to involve their own local musicians where possible and to experiment with new combinations of sound and film.

Northern Silent Film Festival will produce a whole-festival brochure and website, and run whole-festival PR, and each participant will be responsible for their own local marketing.

Please email expressions of interest as soon as possible, via the link below.

The deadline for submission of full event details and marketing information is 12pm, Monday 17 July. Any events submitted after this date may be able to be included on the festival website but will not appear in the festival’s print marketing.
