Yorkshire Silent Film Festival is now Northern Silent Film Festival, and in 2023 the first NSFF brought live-scored film to audiences in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, and Tyneside.

Fourteen musicians performed for twenty events in fourteen venues, in Morecambe, Wetherby, Kendal, Newcastle, Marsden, Sheffield, Leigh, York, Leyburn, Leeds, Chester, Lancaster, and Hull.

Now we’re starting to plan Northern Silent Film Festival 2024, which will run from 28th September to 31st October. Participation in NSFF is open to venues, organisations, and individuals anywhere in the North.

Proposals for live music with film events are welcome at any time. Over the coming years, we hope the festival will grow and foster the further development of live-scored film presentation in the North.

2023 festival events were supported with funding from the National Lottery by Arts Council England and Film Hub North on behalf of BFI’s Film Audience Network.
